Jason Bach leads a busy and rewarding life as a high school teacher, adjunct college professor, husband, and proud parent of twins. But he also makes time to volunteer as an instructor for the Diocese of Allentown’s One in Christ Marriage Preparation Program.
“There’s just something about being in a room filled with people who are in love with each other,” says Bach, a former Marine who teaches theology at Allentown Central Catholic High School. “It’s contagious. You don’t just keep it in the room. It follows you everywhere you go.”
Hundreds of couples complete marriage preparation classes each year. Bach relies on his classroom experience and infectious enthusiasm to teach topics like sacrificial love, better communications, and money management. His classes are very popular.
“What I do isn’t based on any special talent, it’s really a gift from God,” says Bach, who quotes German theologian Meister Eckhart to explain his approach to teaching: “Gratitude for the gift is shown only by allowing it to make one fruitful.”
When Bach shares his gift by preparing couples for the Sacrament of Matrimony, he helps ensure that their marriage is enduring and rewarding, grounded in faith, and filled with love.
