In the wake of the Vatican’s announcement of Carlo Acutis’s upcoming canonization, Castletown Media has revealed the production of Carlo Acutis: Roadmap to Reality. Slated for a release in theaters from Sunday, April 27 to Tuesday, April 29, the documentary will examine the life of the soon-to-be saint and how his faith offers guidance for navigating today’s technology-driven world.
Carlo Acutis, who would have turned 34 this year, will become the first millennial saint. Known for his devotion to the Holy Eucharist and his deep Catholic faith, Carlo also had a passion for technology, making him a timely model for youth facing the challenges of the digital age.
Directed by Tim Moriarty and produced by Jim Wahlberg, Roadmap to Reality combines live-action, animation, and interviews with Carlo’s family, friends, scholars, and tech experts. Filmed across three continents, the documentary addresses pressing issues like artificial intelligence, digital overload, and human connection in a virtual world—all through the lens of Carlo’s spiritual legacy.
“Carlo offers a unique and relatable example for today’s youth,” said Wahlberg. “Our goal is to present Carlo as a model of sanctity and sanity for our times.”
Carlo’s mother, Antonia Salzano Acutis, who appears in the film and collaborated with the filmmakers, added, “Today, people feel as if they are in a tragic state if they don’t have access to the internet. However, the real tragedy is that our world is disconnected from God. Carlo shows us that we can be saints in today’s world.”
Roadmap to Reality follows previous successful faith-based releases from Castletown Media, including Mother Teresa: No Greater Love and Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist.
