Bishop’s Catholic Scholar Society Awards Ceremony honors students, alumni
A celebration of faith and learning was the focus of the Bishop’s Catholic Scholar Society Awards Ceremony, which honored some of the diocese’s brightest school stars April 29 at Berks Catholic High School, Reading. For the fifth year the event – which drew more than 480 people – included the Bishop’s Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award.
Bishop Cullen to ordain John Hutta transitional deacon May 20
This spring a seminarian will be ordained a transitional deacon on his vocational journey to the priesthood in the Diocese of Allentown. Bishop Emeritus of Allentown Edward Cullen will ordain John Hutta II at the Diaconate Ordination during a ceremony at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown Saturday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m.
‘Faith and Spirits’ reflects on Fatima apparitions as canonizations near
“The essence of Fatima is holiness. These children were given special graces, but more importantly they are examples to us,” said David Carollo, executive director of the World Apostolate of Fatima USA during the adult speaker series “Faith and Spirits.” Carollo presented “The Secrets of Fatima” at Allentown Brew Works with more than 60 adults in light of the approaching canonization of visionaries Francisco and Jacinta Marto on Saturday, May 13 in Portugal.

Young married couples reflect on the Annunciation at day of reflection
A total of 17 young adult married couples from 11 parishes across the diocese attended “Behold: Our Souls Proclaim the Greatness,” a day of reflection for married couples up to age 35. Co-sponsored by the Office of Youth, Young Adult and Family Ministry and the Office of Marriage and Natural Family Planning, the retreat was March 25 at St. Francis Retreat House, Easton.
STEM/STREAM/STEAM enhances learning at diocesan schools
