About 300 children's coats and the same amount of other clothing items (sweatshirts, hats, scarves, etc.) were available free for children in the local community Nov. 9 at St. Francis of Assisi, Allentown.
The Outreach Committee of St. Francis collects used and new coats from parishioners of St. Francis and of Holy Trinity, Whitehall for at least two months prior to the giveaway, advertising in the bulletins and local newspapers.
The committee has sponsored the coat giveaway on the second Saturday of November for the past 10 years. Next year they will be giving to adults, too.
