Bishop Alfred Schlert answered questions from the faithful Monday night in a livestreamed “Family Discussion about Coming Back to Mass.” The replay can be viewed on the Diocese’s YouTube page here.
“I know our parishes and priests are looking forward to saying ‘welcome home’ to people who want to attend Mass,” said Bishop Schlert in announcing the event. “I also know that there are many questions about how this process will work.”
Questions, collected from the faithful during the days leading up to the event, ranged from safety precautions parishes are taking for those who choose to attend Masses and receive Holy Communion, to questions about whether the Diocese took too much guidance from government health officials rather than using its exempt status to keep Masses open as usual during the pandemic.
Public attendance at Mass resumed June 1 and remains voluntary for now. Anyone who does not feel comfortable, and anyone with a compromising health condition, should not participate at this time.
