In a letter from Diocese of Allentown Bishop Alfred Schlert sent to 83,000 homes, in radio commercials, social media posts and on the Diocesan website, Catholics who may not be attending Mass regularly at this time are being invited “home for Christmas.”
In the letter, Bishop Schlert, who will celebrate his first Christmas Mass as the Bishop of Allentown this year, wrote, “Perhaps for some of the members of your family, it has been a while since they have been home in the Church. Please know that they are genuinely missed, and I welcome them home for Christmas!”
In the radio commercial, Bishop Schlert said, “No matter how long since your last visit, you will find your spiritual home ready and waiting to welcome you.”
A special page on the Diocesan website www.allentowndiocese.org/home-christmas includes a link to a parish finder that will help people locate a parish near them with contact information for that parish to ascertain its Christmas Mass schedule.
The Diocese of Allentown serves 252,000 Catholics in 84 parishes in Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton and Schuylkill Counties.
As Bishop Schlert says in the close of the radio commercial, “We look forward to sharing these holy days with you, and I hope that we all enjoy a merry and blessed Christmas.”
