As we are all too aware, the pandemic we are currently facing has had many effects upon our lives. One of the most difficult and painful aspects of this crisis for good and faithful Catholics has been the inability to come to Holy Mass and to receive Holy Communion. This has been a difficult situation and thankfully parishes are once again permitted to have Mass with the faithful present. This situation has also given rise to some questions about the Mass itself and the how the faithful participate in the Mass.

The Faithful Are Invited Back to Mass Starting on June 1

Declaring that it is time for the faithful to be able to return to Mass if they choose to do so, Bishop Alfred Schlert today announced that parishes in the Diocese will reopen Masses to the public beginning June 1.

Chrism Mass 2024

The Chrism Mass, a special celebration that usually happens on the Wednesday of Holy Week, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on March 27, 2024 at Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena.

Public Attendance at Masses Will Resume in Carbon County on June 1

As the stay-at-home order is lifted in Carbon County, the Diocese of Allentown will begin taking steps to reopen churches there to the limited participation of the faithful.

Transitional Deacon to be ordained, attendance will be restricted by pandemic

Diocese of Allentown Bishop Alfred Schlert will ordain an Allentown man a transitional deacon in ceremonies at the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena in Allentown on Saturday, May 16th at 10:30 AM. A transitional deacon is one step from being ordained a priest.
